"You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We've already recommended the program to several friends."
Weekly Rock Jam Practice Sessions: The Basics (Rock 101 - Tuesdays) & Intermediate (Open Jam Session - Wednesdays)
Rock 101: Tuesdays 4pm - 5:30pm
Beginner students will only advance with practice -- Rock 101 jam sessions provide an hour-and-a half each week of fun practice with a group of same level aspiring rockers in our band rehearsal space.
Instead of practicing basic drum beats at home, or changing guitar chords in-time to a metronome in their bedroom, students at School of Rock-Chatham will master the basics while playing actual rock songs, with a group of bandmates, together on real stage equipment. Before they know it, they've just practiced for 90mins and excelled on their instrument! The best part is they receive the instant gratification of being able to play songs, which is needed to keep students motivated from a young age. (Surprisingly, some of the most familiar rock songs we all know are just basic beats and three or four basic chords -- which is what students learn in their first couple of lessons).
Rock 101 is the perfect supplement to private lessons to keep students engaged. The approach of our program is to play right away! -- keeping students motivated to stick with their musical instrument as young as age 7, and progress while applying the theory and basic fundamentals in a fun environment, for a lifetime of music!

Open Rock Jam: Wednesdays 4pm - 5:30pm
Wednesday Open Rock Jam Sessions are led by our Music Director, Art, and attendance is required before progressing to the next level of show performance. Art can assess the level and weekly progress of student performers, to best help with casting in seasonal shows -- what they are capable of, and what to challenge them with to improve further.
The same songs are rehearsed on Wednesdays as in the Tuesday group, but moves at a more advanced pace, and new songs are also often learned and incorporated. Horn players (sax, trumpet) are in attendance at Wednesday's session as well, and the sessions are modeled after our seasonal 3hour show rehearsals. Vocal harmonies are learned and stage presence is more fine-tuned in this intermediate to advanced group. Current show performers are welcome to attend as a weekly practice session and to meet other students who are not in their seasonal show rehearsal group. Setlist and song guides are provided.
*A la carte options are available for students who want to try it out
